Built for Coaches Who Step Up

Grassroots football depends on parents and volunteers who are willing to help when no one else will. I know that journey personally.
Like many coaches, I started as a football parent wanting to help my child’s team. Even with years of playing experience, coaching young players was a completely different challenge.
That experience inspired the creation of this platform.
Over the last several years, I’ve developed and organised a complete library of over 500 football coaching practices specifically designed for:
  • First-time coaches
  • Parent volunteers
  • Grassroots teams
  • Youth football development
  • Coaches looking for quick, effective session ideas
  • Every practice is created with simplicity, clarity, and player enjoyment in mind.
  • What Makes This Different?
  • Simple. Visual. Effective.
  • Every training practice is:
  • Colour-coded by age group
  • Easy to follow
  • Designed using visual diagrams
  • Supported with clear icons and setup information
  • Focused on fun and player engagement
  • Built with minimal coaching points to avoid overload
The aim is not to tell coaches exactly how to coach — it’s to provide a strong foundation that allows every coach to develop their own style and adapt sessions to their team’s needs.

Our training guides provide everything you need to deliver quality, fun, engaging training sessions to speed up your player’s & team’s development.
We cover all ages from the foundation phase (U5-11) to the youth development phase (U12-16).

All CC training sessions are designed around the following core principles:

  • Using games whenever possible in training.

  • Developing practices that enable players to make lots of decisions.

  • Valuing and working equally across the Core Development Model.

  • Spending equal time delivering, preparing and reviewing.

  • Using varied coaching styles based on the needs of the group.

  • Aiming for a minimum of 70% ball rolling time in all sessions.

  • Using a positive and enthusiastic manner with players at all times.

  • Delivering realistic game related practices.

  • Connecting, activating, demonstrating and consolidating in every session.

  • Connecting with the group before the session outlining the aims and objectives.

  • Including elements of transition in all practices and sessions where possible.

  • Using a carousel approach to practice design and aim to maximise playing time.

How we coach

A game plan outlining a tactical strategy is prepared for each development fixture and event.

Preparing the game-plan is the first part of the Prepare, Action, Review process that is followed to ensure each development game is part of a wider learning strategy intended to maximise player development.

Prepare

  • Devise a specific tactical plan for each fixture
  • Use recommendations and evaluations from previous fixtures and training to inform planning
  • Set individual and group learning objectives using the Four Core Development Model and playing philosophy

Action

  • Collaborative working between coaching and performance teams on match day
  • Excellent touchline management and relevant tactical changes
  • Half-time: use concise feedback and facilitate individual and unit discussions
  • Demonstrate professional touchline communication and conduct throughout

Review

  • Review the performance against the intended learning objectives and the playing philosophy
  • Conduct a collaborative review including all support and performance services staff
  • Agree recommendations for future fixtures

Arrival Activities (AA)

AA’s are exactly that, activities upon arrival at training. With kids turning up to training at various times – we start with (AA’s) as a warm-up and prepare players physically, emotionally & mentally for the training session ahead.

Ball Mastery (BM)

Improves ball control. Using a combination of dribbling, passing & receiving, fast footwork, first touch and coordination techniques.

Game Related Practices (GRP)

GRP’s are practices within which the movements of the players and ball are tactically appropriate and pre-determined. Players adopt positions and roles relevant to their game function and perform chosen elements of their role as required within the practice.

Small-sided Games (SSG)

SSG’s are games with a small number of players on each side, for example, 3v3 or 5v5. The key point is that because there are fewer players, each player gets more touches of the ball and has many additional benefits.
